Moving to a new community can be nerve racking, but at Champion Hills there is always something going on to help you connect with interesting people and meet new friends. As one member put it, “You have to try really hard to be bored at Champion Hills!” In fact, there’s so much to do that you might have to schedule your down time.
Of course we have to start on the Tom Fazio-designed course. Whether you are new to golf or are a low-handicapper, you will always be able to find a game at Champion Hills. There are organized groups and pickup games available for every handicap nearly every day of the week (the clubhouse is closed on Mondays).
New golfers will find our “Get Into Golf” group the perfect way to grow. The group offers a selection of group lessons and non-competitive play to help you build your confidence in a relaxed environment. This is a co-ed group with relaxed rules and where re-do's are encouraged. A member of the pro staff will observe play and offer tips along the way.
Women looking to build their game should check out “Chicks with Sticks.” This is a casual, fun and very supportive group was started by women to help other women players feel more comfortable and confident in their game. There are only 2 rules for this 9-hole group: keep pace and no whining.
You can check out the other golf groups available here or by calling the proshop and talking to one of our dedicated and friendly professionals. They’d be happy to help find the right group for you.
Golf isn’t the only thing that Champion Hills members value. No matter what your interests are, there are options at Champion Hills. From nature photography to book clubs, from special wine dinners to holiday crafts, the events planned right inside the clubhouse are outstanding.
On most afternoons, after lunch at the clubhouse, the cards and other games come out. If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to play bridge, canasta or mahjong - now’s your chance.
Want a more personalized experience with Champion Hill's award-winning chef? With a Chef's Table experience, you’ll have an intimate evening with friends while getting to know the chef and enjoying a customized menu that's sure to delight your taste buds. These events hosted inside the Wine Room are one of Chef Ryan’s favorite ways to get to know the members.
If you’re looking for a more hands-on opportunity in the kitchen, Chef Ryan’s team will occasionally offer cooking classes. There are also wine dinners and wine tastings in that amazing Wine Room.
Being 2,500 feet above sea level has its advantages. On summer nights, it means that the temperature is perfect and there are very few bugs to interrupt our time out on the lawn. And one of the best times to enjoy the outdoors is while watching the sunset. Our residents are always welcome to eat dinner (or lunch!) around the firepit overlooking the gorgeous mountain view and a beautiful North Carolinian sunset.
If you have family in town, remember that Champion Hills doesn’t ding you with guest fees when they want to play a round of golf, grab dinner, or hang out by the pool. In fact, with the unique vertical membership benefits at Champion Hills, your parents, kids or grandkids enjoy the same benefits as full members at no extra charge.
If you are looking for a way to get the younger crowd out of the house over the summer, consider signing them up for Camp Champ 2020. This annual kids camp runs in July each year for kids ages 3 and up are welcome. Campers enjoy three full days of golf and tennis clinics, crafts and other activities. Last year included design-your-own-pizza, a pool party featuring Sunshine Sammies Ice Cream Sandwiches from Asheville, tours of the Valley Hill Fire Department fire truck, and “Imagine That!” storytime with member-author George Yuhasz.
There's no shortage of things to see and do at Champion Hills. But the surrounding community beckons with even more events and activities to enjoy, especially during the summer months!
The annual Chalk Art Festival (July 18, 2020) in Hendersonville, NC welcomes more than 150 artists drawing on seven blocks of Main St. But you don't need to be a professional; novices can grab a piece of free chalk and an assigned sidewalk space and create their own masterpiece.
