Hey, y’all.
As you likely know, Champion Hills is a member-owned club operated by Troon, the global leader in club management. Troon is headquartered in Scottsdale, Ariz. and is the world’s largest golf management company. It has acquired several other portfolios over the past five years and manages 650-plus golf courses.
And with that size comes considerable firepower.
Troon’s extensive and best-in-class private club portfolio, including Champion Hills, is categorized as “Privé.” Full members at Troon Privé clubs are eligible for Troon Privé Privileges, which you can learn all about via our blog post covering all the amazing benefits, including access to over 100 private clubs and 150 resort and high-end daily fee courses in the Troon network.
Autumn is peak golf season in many regions of the U.S. and the Caribbean, and here are a few of our top Troon Privé picks for our members (and future members) to enjoy this fall.
Lomas Santa Fe Country Club, Solana Beach, California (Private)
We could say that San Diego is the perfect fall golf getaway, but with year-round temperatures in the 60s and 70s, it’s an ideal place to visit anytime. Lomas Santa Fe Country Club is situated 20 minutes from San Diego’s vibrant downtown and beautiful beaches. William Bell, one of California’s most prolific golf course architects, designed the traditionally styled par 72-course with sweeping ocean views and wide fairways.
Ocean Club, Nassau, Bahamas (Private + Resort)
Golf course architect Tom Weiskopf, forever tied to Troon through his seminal work at Troon North, passed away earlier this year. His design work was as elegant as his famously smooth golf swing, and the Ocean Club on Paradise Island in the Bahamas is no exception. Seven holes play right along the ocean, and all but one feature views of the water. Ocean Club is affiliated with Atlantis Bahamas and the Four Seasons Ocean Club, so Troon Privé members can take their pick from two outstanding resort experiences.
Palmilla Golf Club, Los Cabos, Mexico (Resort)
If azure Pacific Ocean waters, sepia mountains and the towering Saguaro cactus of the Sonoran Desert sound like a golf paradise, you need to check out Palmilla Golf Club in famed Los Cabos, Mexico. Palmilla Golf Club, Jack Nicklaus’ first Latin American design, is nestled against the coastlines of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez, with its Ocean Nine featuring the jaw-dropping par-4 third hole, with its green set hard against the sea framed by swaying palm trees.
Bahia Beach Resort & Golf Club, Rio Grande, Puerto Rico (Resort)
Puerto Rico continues to make its remarkable recovery from Hurricane Fiona. The major of its golf courses have reopened, including the Robert Trent Jones Jr. design at Bahia Beach Resort & Golf Club. Fifteen of 18 holes border water, whether tropical lakes or the final stretch of holes playing along the Atlantic Ocean. Stay in the luxurious St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort, set on 438 acres of former coconut farm and featuring two miles of private beaches.
The Club at Hammock Beach, Palm Coast, Florida
Palm Coast is an easy drive from the Southeast or Mid-Atlantic and have-clubs-will-travel golfers will find two outstanding 18-hole layouts awaiting at The Club at Hammock Beach. The vaunted Ocean Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus, reopened in 2017 following a year-long re-grassing with saltwater tolerant paspalum grass. Six holes overlook the Atlantic Ocean. Tom Watson designed the Conservatory Course, which at 7,740 yards is Florida’s longest course.
Reserva Conchal, Cabo Velas, Costa Rica (Resort)
Costa Rica’s Guanacaste region is home to some of the Caribbean’s best beaches and weather. Reserva Conchal is perched along the Pacific Ocean on Playa Conchal, considered the most exotic beach on the country’s Gold Coast. Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed the resort’s 7,021-yard championship course, which has hosted several PGA TOUR Latinoamerica events.
Seminole Legacy Golf Club, Tallahassee, Florida (Semi-Private)
What would fall be without college football? Pack up the clubs and make the trip down to “Tally” to watch the Florida State Seminoles take on their next ACC opponent. Troon operates the Seminole Legacy Golf Club, the home course of the FSU men’s and women’s golf programs. The layout and practice facility recently underwent a multi-million renovation by Nicklaus Design and is now considered one of the best college golf venues in the country.
